In UP’s Farrukhabad, more than 15 children held hostage at a house by gunman

The incident took place in Mohamaadabad of Farrukhabad on Thursday evening, when the 22-year-old, reportedly a murder convict, invited children to his house for birthday and then locked them in.

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, more than 15 children have been held hostage in Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad by a gunman. The person named Subhash Batham, is said to have a criminal background and was in inebriated state when he held them hostage at gunpoint.

The incident took place in Mohamaadabad of Farrukhabad on Thursday evening, when the 22-year-old, reportedly a murder convict, invited children to his house for birthday and then locked them in.

When locals tried to intervene and get the door opened, the man opened fire on them from inside. According to reports, the miscreant first invited children and women on pretext of celebrating his birthday and then locked them inside.

A police team is on the spot and trying to release the abducted children. UP STF commandoes have been sent to the spot to carry out rescue operation. Police officers are exploring options to end the hostage situation.

The motive of gangster behind the hostage crisis is yet known yet.
