Indian Railways converts 2,500 coaches into ‘isolation coaches’

It may be noted that these isolation coaches are being prepared only as a contingency and to supplement the efforts of the Ministry of Health in fighting the COVID-19, added the statement.

New Delhi: The Indian Railways has converted 2,500 coaches as isolation coaches in order to supplement the national efforts in combating COVID-19. It has made forty thousand isolation beds ready for contingency.

An average of 375 coaches are being converted daily into isolation coaches. The target is to convert five thousand coaches.

The work is being carried out at 133 locations in the country. These coaches have been equipped as per medical advisories.

Railway Ministry said, the isolation coaches are being prepared only as a contingency and to supplement the efforts of the Ministry of Health in fighting the COVID-19.
