Jailed AAP minister moves court over CCTV clips, wants restraint on media broadcast; hearing tomorrow

The court has asked Tihar jail authorities to file report on the matter by tomorrow. It will hear the matte tomorrow. Also, reports suggest that the court has sought detailed report from jail officials by Monday

New Delhi: In a respite of sorts, a crucial court hearing will take place on Thursday over Satyendra Jain’s plea to stop media from telecasting his CCTV footage from inside the Tihar jail.

Jailed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) minister Satyendra Jain, irked by leakage & broadcast of his CCTV footage, moved court on Wednesday and sought restrictions on media broadcasting the same.

The AAP minister has moved application in a Delhi court and sought court’s directions in the matter.

The court has asked Tihar jail authorities to file report on the matter by tomorrow. It will hear the matte tomorrow. Also, reports suggest that the court has sought detailed report from jail officials by Monday and has also sought to know if any dietary changes was made in his food menu.

The development comes after two of Jain’s videos surfaced on social media and then became the national headline.

His alleged VIP treatment inside the jail has put BJP and AAP at loggerheads. In the latest video, Jail was seen having an elaborate as against his claims that he lost 28kgs because he was not getting proper food since the time of getting imprisoned.

Earlier CCTV video showed him getting foot & body massage while some people were also spotted inside his cell. AAP rubbished this video saying that he was getting physiotherapy session due to some injury in back but later Tihar jail officials claimed that the masseur was not a paramedic but a rape accused.

BJP slams AAP over Jain’s plea

BJP is no mood to relent over embarrassing revelations on jailed AAP minister and has slammed party’s alleged attempt to block the CCTV footage from coming in public domain.

Reacting to Jain’s plea, BJP IT-cell in charge Amit Malviya said that they are trying to prevent truth from coming out.

“They lied in court about massage, home food & other privileges. It won’t help,” he tweeted.
