J&K: Army thwarts infiltration bid by Pak’s Border Action Team at LoC in Tangdhar area

Though no contact was established with the intruders but the troops have launched a massive search operation in the area. Indian Army’s Chinar Corps is conducting the surveillance of the area.

New Delhi: Amid cross-firing at the India-Pakistan border, a suspected Pakistani Border Action Team (BAT) made an infiltration attempt in Tangdhar of Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir. Indian Army was quick to foil their attempt to sneak into Indian territory.

Troops guarding the Line of Control (LoC) found some suspicious activity by 3-4 intruders today morning, following which they swung into action and foiled their wicket plot.

It was the timely action of alert troops of Chinar Corps on the LoC, which prevented the infiltration bid by militants, report said.

Though no contact was established with the intruders but the troops have launched a massive search operation in the area. Indian Army’s Chinar Corps is conducting the surveillance of the area.

This comes on back of two similar infiltration attempts by Pakistani terrorists who tried sending arms and ammunitions in the valley to foment terror.

On Tuesday, security forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during a search operation in Kupwara. The recovery included five pistols with 10 magazines, five grenades and 138 rounds of ammunition.

It was also reported that a special police officer (SPO) went missing from a police camp along with two AK-47 rifles in Budgam district.

Pakistani shelling along international border

Earlier on October 8, Jammu and Kashmir police arrested a Pakistani ‘spy’ from Samba district.

According to senior Army officials, about 250 militants are waiting at the Pakistani launchpads to cross over to India before the infiltration routes are closed due to snowfall. Recent spurt in ceasefire violations by Pakistani Army is yet another attempt to help the terrorists sneak into Kashmir valley.
