Khadi Fashion Show in ‘Gorakhpur Mahotsav’, top models to showcase products

Gorakhpur Mahotsav: The event will be held on January 12 from 5.30 pm to 6.15 pm on the main stage of the festival at Champa Devi Park with top 16 professional Femina Models walking on the ramp.

New Delhi: In a one of its kind event, Khadi Fashion show is being organised during Gorakhpur Mahotsav, on January 12 & 13. The scheduled event has already become the talk of town and is set to give a fillip to sale of Khadi products in the state.

Top models will don the Khadi attire designed by well-known fashion designers and sashay down the ramp to enhance appeal of indigenously made clothes.

Model Dimple Patel will showcase Khadi on the ramp and during her appearance, Dimple will be wearing designer clothes of renowned fashioner designers like Asma Hussain, Runa Banerjee and Rupika Rastogi Gupta.

Khadi Mahotsav - Gorakhpur

There will be three rounds of top designers and international artists performing with entertainment filler `Tanura Nritya’.

“Long and short kurtas and Dhotis are being liked by boys and tops, short kurtas, kurta-salwar, saree, and suit materials for girls are easily available on the outlets of Khadi Ashram. Khadi is also being mixed with silk, wool and cotton for preparing dress material. Silk and Khadi garments are in the ratio of 50-50 percent,” said designer Asma Hussain.

The fabric is expensive but it gives a royal look. Salwar-kameez, kurta-pajama, saree, jacket, etc. are available in the market, she added.

“Handmade and eco-friendly Khadi is not just a garment but an idea. It is also a symbol of independence and has made the country proud and people wearing it, also feel proud,” said Navneet Sehgal, principal secretary, Khadi and Gramodyog.

Khadi was also showcased in the Gorakhpur Mahotsav last year and this time also, it will add to the glory of the event.

The increase in demand for Khadi will also generate employment at the local level and weavers and youths will get employment. Mostly women are engaged in spinning the yarn and this also connects with Mission Shakti and Mission Rojgar.
