Let’s mark April 11-14 as ‘Tika Utsav’, need focus on micro-containment zones: PM Modi to CMs

There is a need to work on war footing again to fight COVID19. Despite all the challenges, we have a better experience, resources & a vaccine, says PM Modi.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday took stock of Covid-19 situation, in meeting with Chief Ministers of different states and also reviewed the vaccination progress. Speaking after the Covid-19 review meet, PM Modi stressed on the need for creating micro-containment zones and extensive testing as a means to combat the second wave of Coronavirus.

# 11th April is the birth anniversary of Jyotiba Phule and 14th is the birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Ambedkar. Can we do a mass vaccination programme from 11-14th April for the eligible people with zero wastage and use our resources optimally?

# We have crossed the mark of vaccinating 40 lakh people in one day. Criteria set by the world’s most developed nations is no different to the ones set by India.

# Our target should be to test at least 30 contacts in 72 hours per COVID positive patient. The borders of containment zones should be particular and not vague.

# We have to increase testing a lot. We must bring down positive rate below 5%. Our target is to do 70% RT-PCR tests.

COVID19 tracing and tracking is way to curb COVID19 infection

# Our experience says ‘Test, track and treat’ is the mantra to go forward. We must also focus on COVID appropriate behaviour and COVID management.

# The last time, we had brought active COVID cases from 10 lakh to 1.25 lakh. The strategy that made it possible is equally effective even today.

# All of you must use the experiences from the first wave to combat the second wave. Today, we have all the resources and thus, it is a challenge for our governance. We must focus on micro-containment zones.

# I appeal to you all to stress on COVID19 testing. Our target is to do 70% RT-PCR tests. Let the number of positive cases come high, but do maximum testing. Proper sample collection is very important, it can be checked through proper governance: PM Modi during meeting with CMs
