“Lots of elements from outside our country fuelling violence by making inciting statements: Kiren Rijiju

This comes days after the border dispute between Assam and Mizoram peaked and a fierce gun battle between the forces of the two states resulted in the death of five Assam police personnel and one civilian.

New Delhi: Law Minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday said that BJP MPs from all northeastern states met PM Modi on various issues, including violence on Assam-Mizoram border and making proactive statements.

“We expressed our gratitude to the PM & informed him how Congress & other parties are disrupting the peace of northeast by politicising this violence. We appeal to Congress to not politicise a sensitive matter,” he said.

Taking about the tensions between Assam and Mizoram, Rijiju said, that lots of elements from outside our country fuelling violence by making inciting statements.

“When it comes to progress of northeast, we should all work together towards it. There should be no politics over it. Taking into account PM Modi’s vision and Home Minister’s execution of the work for the region, we think there will be peace in northeas”

“PM told BJP MPs his love and affection for Northeast is natural, do not look at it from prism of politics,” he further said.

This comes days after the border dispute between Assam ans Mizoram peaked and a fierce gun battle between the forces of the two states resulted in the death of five Assam police personnel and one civilian. One injured policeman succumbed to his injuries later taking the total number of policemen killed to six.

According to reports, at least 50 people were injured in the incident.
