Maharashtra cabinet expansion likely tomorrow; Fadnavis may get home, say sources

It was on June 30 that former Shiv Sena MLA Eknath Shinde and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis were sworn in as chief minister and deputy chief minister after Uddhav Thackeray resigned as the Chief Minister.

New Delhi: More than a month after government formation and repeated diatribes from the Opposition, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is finally heading for expanding expansion tomorrow, said sources.

CM Shinde will expand his cabinet tomorrow around 11 am at Raj Bhavan with the opening of Monsoon Session on August 10. Former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis likely to get the home portfolio, repoets said.

As per information, a total of 14 ministers are likely to take oath, representing each region of the state.

Senior BJP leaders Sudhir Mungantiwar, Chandrakant Patil, Girish Mahajan are likely to be inducted as cabinet ministers while form the Shinde faction, Gulab Raghunath Patil, Sada Sarvankar and Deepak Vasant Kesarkar may take oath.

Till now, the Maharashtra government has been functioning as a two-member cabinet since then, drawing flak from the Opposition.

In last few days, Fadnavis & Shinde have visited Delhi many a times. The likely cabinet expansion comes after their visit last week, when Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde came to the capital and attended Niti Aayog meeting.
