New Delhi: As India became the fourth worst hit nation surpassing United Kingdom today, Maharashtra accounts for the maximum number of Covid-19 cases in the country. Out of total figure nearing 3 lakh, the state alone has crossed 1 lakh Covid-19 cases.

Mumbai hospital -

The number of coronavirus cases in Maharashtra crossed 1 lakh mark on Friday after 3,493 people were found Corona positive, the state health department said. The tally has now reached 1,01,141, it said.

As the virus claimed 127 more lives on Friday, the death toll due to the Covid-19 has jumped to 3,717.

Mumbai alone accounts for over 55,000 Covid cases

Mumbai is the biggest contributor in the country’s coronavirus tally, with the city reporting a total of 55,541 Corona cases. The country’s financial capital reported 1,366 new cases and 90 fresh deaths on Friday. It’s total death toll stands at 2,044.

Maharashtra’s recovery rate is now 47.3 per cent, whereas the coronavirus mortality rate is 3.7 per cent.

3rd Maha minister infected with Corona

As the Covid-19 pandemic keeps pummeling the Maximum city, Dhanajay Munde, cabinet minister from NCP in Maharashtra government has been tested positive for Coronavirus. His five staff members have also been tested positive for Covid-19 and have been put in isolation. The Minister reportedly attended the cabinet meeting held at the state secretariat earlier this week.

Mumbai hospital -

He is the third cabinet member in Maharashtra to test positive for the viral infection.

Earlier, Cabinet Minister and former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad, were diagnosed with COVID-19 and have recovered.

India’s total tally nears 3 lakh

India’s new coronavirus cases rose by over 10,950 on Friday, the steepest increase so far, with the total number of reported cases crossing 2.97 lakh.

The death toll due to the disease increased to 8,498 with 396 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.

According to Health Ministry, 10,956 more cases were reported in the last 24 hours and the total count of cases was 2,97,535 of which active cases stood at 1,41,842 and 1,47,195 patients are “cured/discharged/migrated”.
