1st data centre park to come up in Uttar Pradesh: UP govt has approved construction of high-tech project with an estimated investment of Rs 600 crore. The data center park will be built by Hirandani Group at 20 acre plot in Greater Noida.

New Delhi: Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh is set to become one of the first states to have an indigenous data center park. The move will not only open many avenues of employment generation but will also herald the emergence of Atmanirbhar Bharat in the field of data storage.

Uttar Pradesh govt has approved the construction of high-tech project with an estimated investment of Rs 600 crore. The data center park will be built by Hirandani Group at 20 acre plot in Greater Noida.

Till now, the data storage was largely limited to locations outside the country but these indigenous data parks will completely revamp how the IT businesses operate in the country.

This will lead to creation of multiple jobs and also make the pricing reasonable for local IT companies.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the officials to facilitate land allotment for the ambitious project and also enable its operation without any hassles.

Hirandani Group, the real estate developers of Mumbai, has earlier built similar data center parks in Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad. However, UP’s project holds much significance as many big MNCs have also shown interest in investing in the state. Adani Group, and few others have proposed an investment upto to Rs 10,000 crore in the data center park project, reports said.

Yogi govt creates ‘power bank’ for data centers

Since, these data centers consume enormous amount of energy, Yogi government has put in place adequate arrangements for uninterrupted power supply. ‘Open Access Scheme’ has been drafted, for powering these data parks exclusively. UP government is also working out on a separate policy for expansion of data center parks in the state.

It may be noted that India’s data center market is witnessing robust growth in the era of virtualisation, owing to vast expansion of social media and increased use of smartphones. According to Synergy Research Group, the data center market is expected to grow at 12% while McKinsey identifies India as the second fastest growing digital economy in near future.
