Mystery deepens: Man whose Scorpio car was found with explosives near Ambani residence found dead

New Delhi: Owner of the Scorpio car, which led to Ambani house bomb scare has been found dead under mysterious circumstances. Mansukh Hiren was found dead under mysterious circumstances. With this development, the mystery over bomb scare outside Ambani residence has deepened further as it will make the investigation of Mumbai police more difficult.

Initial inputs suggest that Mansukh Hiren died by suicide. Police officials believe he jumped into the Mumbra creek in Thane. However, his family members have strongly contested this theory who claimed that he cannot die by suicide.

Last week, his Scorpio car laden with gelatin sticks was found parked outside Mukesh Ambani’s residence – Antilia. This had triggered security scare for India’s richest person and sent the state administration in a tizzy.

Suicide or Murder?

As per initial inputs, police is suspecting it to be a case of suicide but the circumstantial evidence show several suspicious things, which don’t rule out any foul play in the incident.

BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis has demanded NIA probe into the incident.

“Death of Mansukh Hiren raises many questions and is indicative of complexities. NIA should probe the entire matter,” Fadnavis said.


Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, briefing the media, said “Car’s owner was Sam Muten who had given it to Mansukh Hiren for maintenance of its interior. Hiren had kept the car in his custody when Sam didn’t pay for it.”

Threat letter had this warning for Ambanis

A letter was found inside SUV purportedly threatened Ambani and his family.

“Ye to sirf ek trailer hai. Neeta Bhabhi, Mukesh Bhaiyya, family ye to sirf ek jhalak hai. Agli baar ye saaman pura hokar tumhare pass aayega, aur pura intezaam ho gaya hai,” the threatening letter read.

How Mansukh Hiren’s car landed outside Ambani residence

Mansukh Hiren, the owner of car had told Mumbai Police said that his car had not been in use for over a year. He said that he recently drove the car because he wanted to sell it. He said that his car had broken down, after which he parked it at the Mulund-Airoli Link Road. He said that when he returned to the spot the next day, the car was not there.

ACP headed team probing Ambani bomb scare

An ACP-rank officer of Mumbai crime branch Nitin Alaknure is heading the team probing the recovery of explosives in a vehicle that was found parked near the residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani.

Till now, no breakthrough has been achieved in the case. However, the death of Scorpio owner has further deepened the mystery.

A Scorpio with 2.5 kg of gelatin sticks, an explosive material, was found near ‘Antilia’, the multi-storey house of Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, on February 25 evening.

The crime branch has formed more than 10 teams, including special units, to crack the case, the officer said, adding that statements of over 30 persons have been recorded so far.

Police teams are trying to track down the Innova car in which the driver of the parked Scorpio SUV with explosives was seen leaving. Police had earlier said the Scorpio had been stolen from Mulund area a week ago.
