New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Independence Day speech discussed about how important sanitary napkins are for women’s health. Taking inspiration from PM Modi DIG Rajesh Pandey, dubbed as the ‘Padman of UP Police’, started working on a project to provide easy access to sanitary pads.

DIG Rajesh’s project a sanitary napkin manufacturing unit with 200 pads an hour at Rs 2 each became a reality in Bareilly’s Reserve Police Lines and now women of that area can easily get a pack of seven pads for just Rs. 15. For now, the whole idea is to reach out to 6,500 families.

A modern toilet was also arranged for the six hundred girls studying in the Police Modern School in Bareilly, funded by the Indian Oil Corporation.

Inspired by PM Modi’s speech

Inspired by Prime Minister Modi’s speech, Rajesh Pandey, DIG, Bareilly, started work towards setting up a sanitary pad unit in the Bareilly police line. He also formed a committee. This committee surveyed the prices of pad making machines in Delhi, Noida, and Gujarat.

Connecting with this initiative of Rajesh Pandey, Indian Oil Corporation purchased the machine from CSR Fund and set up a unit in the police line. Now the production and packaging work has been started by women in the Bareilly police line from 19 October. The raw material is sourced from Haryana and No plastic has been used for packaging.
