Monsoon Session from July 19 to Aug 13; MPs & journalists exempted from compulsory RT-PCR test

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that the timings of the Monsoon Session will be from 11 am to 6 pm for both the Houses – the Lok Sabha as well as the Rajya Sabha.

New Delhi: With nation recovering from 2nd wave of Covid-19 pandemic, the Monsoon Session of Parliament is set to begin from July 19 to August 13.

There will be a total of 19 business days, LS Speaker Om Birla told journalists.

Birla said that all Covid-related norms will be followed during the Monsoon Session.

“A majority of Members of Parliament have already taken at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine,” he informed.

The Speaker said the timings of the Monsoon Session will be from 11 am to 6 pm for both the Houses – the Lok Sabha as well as the Rajya Sabha.

He also informed that RT-PCR test will not be mandatory for lawmakers and media personnel for getting entry into the Parliament complex.

“All members and media will be allowed in accordance with Covid-19 rules. RT-PCR test is not mandatory. We will request those who have not undergone vaccination to undergo test,” the Lok Sabha Speaker told the media.
