New Delhi: The principal of a government school in Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh was suspended on Wednesday by the state government after notebooks carrying pictures of Veer Savarkar were allegedly distributed in the school.

KC Sharma, District Education Officer said, “The principal was suspended as he didn’t take permission from concerned authorities before approving the distribution of notebooks with Savarkar’s photo.”

Ujjain divisional commissioner had issued the suspension orders of principal RN Kairawat, who is an awardee of the President’s Medal.

Students sit on dharna, ABVP activists approach DC

The move anguished the students, who staged protest against the move and also sat to dharna demanding his reinstatement at the earliest. They also disrupted the traffic movement on roads and raised slogans against the state administration.

ABVP activists knocked the doors of Ujjain Divisional Commission to lodge complaint against the unjust decision by state govt. Slogans were also raised against high-handedness of the state govt.

Locals claimed that a volunteer organisation named Veer Savarkar Hitarth Jankalyan Samiti had distributed these notebooks among the students. The study material had picture of Savarkar on the cover besides photographs of NGO’s office-bearers.
