Mukul Roy’s ‘ghar wapsi’ in Bengal, likely to join TMC shortly: Reports

Sources close to top rung TMC leadership said, that a decision to this effect would be taken after his meeting with party top brass chaired by Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata.

New Delhi: Bengal’s tall leader and once Mamata Banerjee’s close aide Mukul Roy is in all likelyhood ready to join the Trinamool Congress (TMC) party today.

Sources close to top rung TMC leadership said, that a decision to this effect would be taken after his meeting with party top brass chaired by Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata.

Roy contested the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections from Krishnangar Uttar constituency and defeated TMC candidate actor Koushani Mukherjee.

Roy’s meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee comes a month after the TMC secured a landslide victory in the
West Bengal assembly elections.

Mukul Roy, a founding member of TMC, had changed camps and joined BJP in November 2017.

Mukul’s Roy homecoming will come as a big jolt for the BJP as he held Vice-President post in the party and even strategized BJP’s poll campaign in Bengal.
