New Delhi: Electric supply in Mumbai interrupted due to the “TATAs incoming electric supply failure”.

Such a large-scale power failure is unprecedented for the metropolis.

“The electric supply is interrupted due to TATAs incoming electric supply failure. Inconvenience is regretted,” Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) tweeted.

Official Update-

In view of interruption in Traction power at 10.05 hrs due to Grid failure of Tata Power company, services btwn Churchgate & Borivali are suspended. It shall be resumed as soon as traction power supply is restored.
Commuters are requested to cooperate.

However, Power supply, from MSETCL available at Vasai Road & it has been extended to work essential suburban trains between Borivili to Virar section.

Efforts are on to start services in Churchgate- Borivali section.
Commuters are requested not to panic & maintain social distancing.

Mumbai Central main line train services restored.

CM Uddhav Thackerayspoke to State Power Minister Nitin Raut and BMC Commissioner over grid failure in Mumbai and gave directions for its restoration as soon as possible: Maharashtra CM’s Office

Trains between CSMT-Panvel on Harbour Line have resumed. We’re trying to restore services between CSMT-Kalyan, CSMT-Karjat/Kasara. Long-distance trains from Mumbai rescheduled, and incoming trains regulated at interchange points: CPRO, Central Railway

There is multiple tripping of lines and transformer (Kalwa-padghe and Khargar ICTs) supplying power to Mumbai system . 360 MW supply in Mumbai and suburbs affected. Restoration under process: Dr Jitendra Awhad.

Within minutes of the outage, people took to social media.
