Negligence increasing after Unlock-1, need to be more vigilant: PM Modi on Covid-19 fight

“We are entering Unlock-2 while fighting the Covid-19. We are also entering a disease-prone season where one gets cough and cold easily. I appeal to all of you to be cautious and stay healthy,” said PM Modi.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that the people of the country showed little carelessness and negligence after relaxations were announced in the first phase, after over two month-long Covid-19 lockdown.

Highlights of PM Modi’s speech:

# We are entering Unlock-2 while fighting the Covid-19. We are also entering a disease-prone season where one gets cough and cold easily. I appeal to all of you to be cautious and stay healthy.

# India is in a much better position in terms of Covid-19 fatality rate. And that has happened because we implemented the lockdown at the right time. Our death rate has been under control.

# But after entering Unlock 1, carelessness and negligence has increased among people. We were maintaining social distance, wearing masks and washing hands to more than 20 seconds when the lockdown was in place. Today, we need these things more than anything, we have not been following these protocols,

# People who are not following rules need to be stopped and made aware of the problems. Nobody is above rules in India, even if it’s the leader of the nation.

# We notice that there has been a negligence on people’s social and personal behaviour.

# We need to be more aggressive with washing hands, using sanitisers, wearing masks and maintaining social distancing and avoiding shaking hands.
