New Covid-19 strain: UP govt to test and track all those who returned from abroad in last 15 days

New Delhi: Upping the ante against outbreak of new Covid-19 strain, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed officials to maintain a robust system of treatment and prevention from Covid-19. He said that vigilance and caution should be maintained at all levels towards Covid-19.

The Chief Minister was presiding over a unlock review meeting at Lok Bhawan.

He said that arrangements should be made for isolation and testing of people who have returned back to state between 25 November and 8 December from the countries where the new strain of corona virus has been found.

Compulsory RTPCR testing should be conducted on people who have returned from such countries after December 9. CM Yogi also instructed officials to conduct the testing work with full capacity.

Uttar Pradesh government has also directed authorities to ensure contact tracing of those who entered the state from foreign countries in the last 15 days.

The CM said that UP ranks second in the country on per million test basis and instructed to increase the number of tests per million. It is to be mentioned that in UP, tests are been conducted on the basis of one lakh tests per million.

The CM also said that people should be regularly made aware about prevention from Covid-19 and for this, public address systems should be used along with various publicity mediums. Action should be taken in a time-bound manner regarding vaccination of Covid-19.

All the arrangements regarding the storage, cold chain and transportation of the vaccine should be made on time and the monitoring activities should be conducted at district level. He has also given instructions to conduct the training work of vaccinators with full activeness.
