NIA team rushes to Udaipur, terror angle to be probed in tailor’s murder

A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been sent to Udaipur to probe the terror angle in the murder of a tailor. 

New Delhi: A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been sent to Rajasthan’s Udaipur to probe the terror angle in the murder of a tailor, according to the media reports. The Hindu tailor has been identified as Kanhaiya Lal. The accused cut his throat for posting a post on social media in support of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

The name of both accused has also been revealed by the police as Gaus Mohammed and Riyaz.

They are residents of Surajpole of Udaipur.

In view of the incident, the Udaipur administration imposed Section 144 and a curfew in different areas of the district until further orders. The areas include: Dhanmanid, Ghantaghar, Hathipol, Ambamata, Surajpol, Bhupalura, and Savina PS.

Notably, the internet services were temporarily suspended by the government across the state to maintain law & order for the next 24 hours. It is reported that the Ashok Gahlot government also decided to impose section 144 in all the districts for the next one month.
