No delay in India’s 1st Bullet train project due to COVID-19; Japanese ambassador happy with progress – Check key facts

New Delhi: Japanese Ambassador to India Satoshi Suzuki visited the construction site of the bullet train station in Antroli village in Surat. After observing the status of the project, Suzuki expressed his satisfaction with the project’s progress. The project will help people to travel between Ahmedabad and Mumbai in a short time.

Meanwhile, Suzuki said, ”I saw the civil work of the bullet train project in progress in Gujarat. We are supplying the transfer of technologies to the Indian counterpart for this project on time. We are also satisfied with the progress in the project.”

Satoshi Suzuki shared some photos of his visit on Twitter. He wrote, ”Visited the Span by Span (SBS) Casting Yard in Surat, Gujarat. Many casted segments getting ready for erection on the viaduct of MAHSR. Indian workers are implementing the precision casting required for the Japanese Shinkansen Bullet Train system.”

-The deadline for the bullet train project has been set for 2026 but it can only go up to 2027.

-It will cover the distance of 508 kilometers, running at a speed of 320 kmph.

-There are 12 stops in total on the route. The train will take only 165 seconds to reach each station.

-The 12 stations include Mumbai, Thane, Viral, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad and Sabarmati.

-In the beginning, 35 trains will ply, with about 70 trips per day. It will later be increased to 105 trains by 2050.

-Initially, Each train will have 10 coaches with a total seating capacity of 750 passengers.

-The train will have two categories that include executive and economy.
