Now, ED arrests Manish Sisodia after quizzing him at Tihar jail

Earlier in the day, the ED sleuths had reached Delhi’s Tihar jail and grilled the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader for hours, over money laundering charges.

New Delhi: In mounting trouble for former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday arrested Manish Sisodia over alleged financial irregularities in the Delhi excise policy.

Earlier in the day, the ED sleuths had reached Delhi’s Tihar jail and grilled the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader for hours, over money laundering charges.

The 51-year-old AAP leader has been arrested under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The agency claimed that the former Deputy CM was not co-operating in probe and was mostly evasive in his replies. This was second round of Sisodia’s questioning by the ED sleuths. First round of questioning took place on March 7.

Manish Sisodia is currently under judicial custody. He was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26 over corruption charges in now revoked Delhi liquor policy for year 2021-22.

Reacting sharply to Sisodia’s arrest by the ED, AAP hit out at the Centre and called it a ‘desperate attempt ‘ to silence its political rivals.

Arvind Kejriwal called it a witch hunt by Centre and claimed that the latter had only one aim of keeping Sisodia inside jail.

Meanwhile, Sisodia is likely to be produced by the ED team at Rouse Avenue court on Friday, after lunch.
