On its 72nd Foundation Day, ABVP sets target of 1,000 tree plantation across Delhi

Tree plantation drives, online quiz competitions, poetry recitals, just-a-minute public speaking contests, poster making, essay and slogan writing events, and similar other activities were organized at Badarpur, JNU, as well as other regions of the national capital.

Delhi: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the world’s largest student organization celebrated its 72nd Foundation Day on Thursday. ABVP was founded on 09 July 1949. A bevy of participatory activities were organized across the national capital in the wake of the Foundation Day celebrations.

Tree plantation drives, online quiz competitions, poetry recitals, just-a-minute public speaking contests, poster making, essay and slogan writing events, and similar other activities were organized at Badarpur, JNU, as well as other regions of the national capital.

ABVP office bearers as well as elected student-representatives addressed the students via Facebook Live and webinars. ABVP’s National Joint Organizing Secretary Shri Prafulla Akant, National General Secretary Ms. Nidhi Tripathi, National Vice-President Ms. Manu Sharma Kataria, National Media Convener Shri Rahul Chaudhry, North Zone Joint Organizing Secretary Shri Ajay Thakur, senior journalist Shri Ram Bahadur Rai, Supreme Court Advocate Monika Arora, former JNUSU President and Senior Advocate Shri Sandeep Mahapatra, ABVP Delhi State President Shri Abhishek Tandon, State Secretary Shri Sidharth Yadav, State Organizing Secretary Shri Anand Srivastava, DUSU President Shri Akshit Dahiya and others addressed the students on the topic of leadership and the importance of student-centric activism in the larger scheme of participatory democracy in India.

Till now, around a thousand students from JNU, Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi University, Lal Bahadur Shastri Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, and several other educational institutes have participated in the ongoing programs being organized in commemoration of ABVP’s Foundation Day.

Sidharth Yadav, State Secretary, ABVP Delhi, said, “Since its establishment, ABVP has emerged as the most sincere representative of students across the country. ABVP has always been at the forefront, leading public debates and mobilizing public opinions on issues of national and critical importance.

In these 72 years since its inception, ABVP, through its focus on man-making and character building, has given the motherland, an entire generation of nationalistic cadres who have distinguished themselves in politics, journalism, academia, social service and numerous other walks of life. In the coming times, we are determined to work with an even greater degree of enthusiasm in the interest of the nation as well as the larger humankind.”
