PM Modi lauds CM Nitish for sushashan, takes dig at Lalu; hails Bihar as ‘powerhouse of talent’ (VIDEO)

PM Modi said last 15 years have ‘changed the face’ of Bihar. He said that in last 15 years, Bihar has shown that development happens with the right government, decisions and policies, and it also reaches everyone.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday showered praise on Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar for ushering in sushasan (good governance) and expressed confidence that the good work will continue under the leadership of the Janata Dal (United) chief.

PM Modi said this while addressing the gathering after the inauguration of 3 petroleum sector projects worth Rs 900 crore in the state via video link.

Without taking names, the Prime Minister blamed the backwardness of state on a mindset, which made them sneer at the economic progress.

“Bihar has for long been plagued by a peculiar mindset. Road projects were frowned upon and people used to ask what do these have to offer those who walk on foot and do not have vehicles,” PM Modi said in a veiled dig at RJD supremo Lalu Yadav.

PM Modi said that the last 15 years have ‘changed the face’ of Bihar. He said that in last 15 years, Bihar has shown that development happens with the right government, decisions and policies, and it also reaches everyone.

“Such indifference to progress also took its toll on higher education. But the last 15 years have been of sushasan. Infrastructure has improved. New medical and engineering colleges, law institutes and polytechnics have come up. Nitish Kumar has a very important role to play in ensuring that the process continues,” he said.

PM Modi’s praise of ally Nitish Kumar comes days ahead of Assembly election in the poll-bound Bihar. The Prime Minister didn’t stop short of showering praise on residents of Bihar also. He said Bihar, like the rest of eastern India, never lacked samarthya (potential) and sansadhan (natural resources) but suffered for want of political will and faulty priorities.

“It would not be an exaggeration to call Bihar a powerhouse of talent. Its people can be found in all IITs and centres of excellence. Bright minds from here are serving in important capacities at the Centre. We all are indebted to Bihar. And it is our duty to ensure that Bihar gets a government that ensures that good governance it has seen in the last 15 years continues and realizes its full potential,” he said.
