PM Modi’s Yoga event creates Guinness World Record for bringing together ‘highest number of nationalities’

The historic event, held to commemorate the 9th International Yoga Day, witnessed the participation of individuals from the highest number of nationalities ever recorded in a Yoga session.

New Delhi: In a remarkable display of unity and wellness, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Yoga Day event at the United Nations headquarters in New York achieved a Guinness World Record. The historic event, held to commemorate the 9th International Yoga Day, witnessed the participation of individuals from the highest number of nationalities ever recorded in a Yoga session.

Prime Minister Modi, who arrived in the United States on an invitation from President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, led the historic event at the UN headquarters. Alongside him were Csaba Korisi, the President of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed, and New York City Mayor Eric Adams. Distinguished guests, including UN officials, diplomats, and notable personalities, also graced the occasion.

Adorned in a customized white yoga T-shirt and trousers, PM Modi expressed his gratitude to the attendees, saying, “I’m delighted to see you all. And I thank you all for coming. Friends, I’m told that almost every nationality is represented here today.”

Today, a separate Yoga Day event took place in Surat, Gujarat, establishing a remarkable Guinness World Record for hosting the largest congregation ever assembled for a yoga session in a single location. A staggering 1.53 lakh people participated, surpassing the previous record set in 2018 when 1,00,984 individuals came together for a Yoga Day session in Kota, Rajasthan.

Prime Minister Modi’s leadership in promoting yoga on the global stage not only reinforces India’s cultural heritage but also emphasizes the importance of incorporating wellness practices into our daily lives. The Guinness World Records achieved during these events stand as a testament to the global reach and influence of yoga, inspiring millions to embrace its teachings and experience its positive effects.
