PM Modi to inaugurate first world-class Rani Kamlapati Railway Station 2021 in Bhopal

PM Narendra Modi during his visit to Madhya Pradesh will inaugurate the redesigned Rani Kamlapati Railway Station.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Madhya Pradesh on November 15 and during his visit, he will inaugurate the redesigned Rani Kamlapati Railway Station 2021 at around 3 PM.

During the event, Modi will also talk about multiple initiatives of Railways in Madhya Pradesh including Gauge Converted and Electrified Ujjain-Fatehabad Chandrawatiganj Broad Gauge section, the Third line in Bhopal-Barkhera section, Gauge Converted and Electrified Mathela-Nimar Kheri Broad Gauge section, and Electrified Guna-Gwalior section. According to the Ministry of Railways, Modi will flag off two new MEMU trains between Ujjain-Indore and Indore-Ujjain.

Rani Kamlapati

The redesigned Rani Kamlapati Railway Station 2021 got its name from the brave and fearless Queen Kamlapati of the Gond kingdom. This is the first world-class railway station in Madhya Pradesh. The railway station has been developed in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, will feature as a green building with modern class facilities to aid mobility for differently-abled people. Previously, the station was called Habibganj railway station.

The station also provides a hub for integrated multi-modal transport.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated that Rani Kamlapati was the last Hindu queen.

“I thank PM Modi for renaming Bhopal’s Habibganj railway station after the tribal queen, Rani Kamlapati. She was the pride of Gond society. She was the last Hindu queen,” Chouhan said.

The resigned station is a part of Indian Railway’s Western Central Railways and is situated in Bhopal. Regarded as the “first world-class model station in the country which has all the facilities available at international airports”, a total of Rs 450 crore has been spent to redesign the station.

There are separate entry and exit gates to control the crowd. Besides, escalators and lifts have also been installed inside the station. The open concourse has the capacity to accommodate 700 to 1,100 passengers.

Electronic display boards have been installed throughout the railway station will display information about the movement of trains. The station will also provide facilities like food courts, restaurants, air-conditioned waiting rooms, dormitory, VIP lounge. Besides, 160 CCTV cameras have been installed throughout the station.
