“India and China are in communication and negotiations on lowering the temperatures through military and diplomatic channels. No party should engage in any action that may escalate the situation at this point,” Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said.

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing border stand-off with China, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a surprise visit to Ladakh today morning. The surprise visit was enough to send the dragon into tizzy.

Chinese foreign ministry swung into action and released a statement via press.

In a statement, Zhao Lijian, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson has said, “India and China are in communication and negotiations on lowering the temperatures through military and diplomatic channels. No party should engage in any action that may escalate the situation at this point.”

The swiftness with which China responded to PM Modi’s visit shows its nervousness.

In Leh, PM interacted with the personnel of the Army, Air Force and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) at the Nimu post.

PM Modi was also briefed by senior Army officers at Nimu post, including by Lt Gen Harinder Singh, Commander of 14 Corps that mans the LAC in eastern Ladakh.
