Rahul Gandhi meets migrant workers in Delhi, Cong later claims that they were detained after interacting with him

Rahul Gandhi asked the Indian Youth Congress and Delhi Congress Committee to make arrangements for the safe return of migrant laborers trapped in Delhi.

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday moved out of his home to meet the migrant workers in  Sukhdev Vihar area of the city. He apparently went there to share the pain and agony of migrants, who have taken to roads for walking many kilometers back home. In the pictures, Rahul could be seen sitting on sidewalk and interacting with them about their plight.

Rahul Gandhi has also asked the Indian Youth Congress and Delhi Congress Committee to make arrangements for the safe return of migrant laborers, trapped in Delhi.

Later, Congress party claimed that some migrant labourers were taken in preventive custody soon after their interaction with former party president Rahul Gandhi.

Police sources, however, said that it is misinformation that migrants who met with Rahul Gandhi were detained by police, migrants are still at spot, as per rules they are not being allowed to board a vehicle as a large group, which some Congress workers offered.
