Rajanth replies to Rahul’s taunt with poetic jibe, quotes Mirza Ghalib’s shayari

It was a day of poetic duel with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Defence Minister Rajanath Singh both drawing from Mirza Ghalib’s shayari.

New Delhi: It was a day of poetic duel with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Defence Minister Rajanath Singh both drawing from Mirza Ghalib’s shayari.

Rahul Gandhi took a sarcastic jibe at India’s defence policy and tweeted, “Everyone knows the reality of ‘Seema’ (Border) but to keep the heart happy, ‘Shah-yad’ is a good idea.”

“Everyone knows the reality of the ”borders”, but the thought is good to keep one”s heart happy,” Rahul said in a tweet in Hindi, tweaking a couplet from noted Urdu poet Mirza Ghalib.

His taunt was aimed at Amit Shah’s speech in which he said that India’s defence policy has gained global acceptance.

Later in the evening, Rajnath Singh also took a poetic jibe at the Congress leader and used Mirza Ghalib’s shayari to counter him.

Quoting a couplet from Ghalib’s shayari, Rajnath said when there is pain in the hand, one takes medicine, but what does one do when the hand itself is a pain.

Reacting to the defence minister”s tweet, Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala asked in yet another couplet as to what”s the outcome of the “red eyes”, as he asked Singh to show courage at the border.

His reference was to Prime Minister Narendra Modi”s vow, before coming to power, that he would show ”red eyes” to China.
