RBI lauds UP govt’s fight against Covid-19, report says ‘state’s response was fastest & most effective’

The RBI’s annual ‘Study of State Budgets’ report said that Uttar Pradesh has topped the list by providing 100% help to the migrant workers and labourers. The state secured the first position in 8 out of 9 criteria decided by the central government and RBI to fight against COVID-19.

New Delhi: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has praised Uttar Pradesh government for its proactive and dynamic handling of the Coronaovirus pandemic. In a ‘State Finance Report’ released by the Central Bank, Yogi government has earned admiration for overall management of Covid-19 crisis in the state and also containing it from spreading further.

The RBI’s annual ‘Study of State Budgets’ report said that Uttar Pradesh has topped the list by providing 100% help to the migrant workers and labourers. The state secured the first position in 8 out of 9 criteria decided by the central government and RBI to fight against COVID-19.

According to the ‘Study of State Budgets’ report, “Whether it was arranging hospitals, medical equipment, masks and ventilators for the patients suffering from COVID-19, Uttar Pradesh acted in the fastest and most effective way.”

Uttar Pradesh topped the position followed by Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in the list of states that made the highest expenditure in health infrastructure. Also, UP secured the first position followed by West Bengal and Tamil Nadu to provide free treatment to Corona patients.

In fact, UP along with Tripura and Tamil Nadu have been the only states to provide Emergency Life Support Ambulance facility.

The report states, “UP topped the list in delivering N-95 masks to doctors and paramedical staff followed by Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Chennai. There are 18 other states after UP in terms of helping the people during the Corona pandemic.”

“It is worth mentioning that Uttar Pradesh, followed by 15 other states, has been listed in the category of states distributing free ration,” said the RBI report.
