Row over Cong-Rana link: Documents show Priyanka Gandhi sold painting to Yes Bank CEO for Rs 2 crore

Taking on to twitter, BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya said Priyanka Vadra sold a painting, which she didn’t even own, to Rana Kapoor for a whopping two crore rupees.

New Delhi: After the alleged link between Priyanka Gandhi and Yes Bank founder Rana Kapoor came to the fore, here is the documental evidence of how the cash deal took place between the two. These papers clearly establish the lines of communication between the Yes Bank CEO and Congress leaders via letters & SMSes.

Priyanka Gandhi reportedly sold the portrait of Rajiv Gandhi by MF Hussain, for a whopping Rs 2 crores to Rana Kapoor, raising questions over Gandhis’ involvement in the Yes Bank crisis.

 

It is learnt that the portrait by MF Hussain was made during the centenary celebrations of Congress.

Taking on to twitter, BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya said Priyanka Vadra sold a painting, which she didn’t even own, to Rana Kapoor for a whopping two crore rupees.

“Apparently Priyanka Vadra sold a painting, which she didn’t even own, to Rana Kapoor for a whopping two crore rupees…This requires some serious talent!, ” Malviya wrote on Twitter.

The Congress termed the charge “fake”. However, it acknowledged that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had sold a portrait of her late father Rajiv Gandhi by MF Husain to Yes Bank founder Rana Kapoor, who is now under arrest, but asserted that the entire amount was received through cheque and duly disclosed in Vadra’s income tax returns.

Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said it was a “diversionary” tactic by the government. The entire amount Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had received was in cheque and was fully disclosed in the income tax return, Mr Singhvi said.

Yes Bank founder Rana Kapoor has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate under the provision of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) as he did not cooperate with the officials.
