RPN Singh’s Political journey from ‘Congress to BJP’- Timeline here

A senior Congress leader RPN Singh tendered his resignation to the Congress President Sonia Gandhi to join BJP ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election.

New Delhi: Former Union Minister RPN Singh joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), soon after quitting Congress on Tuesday.

Taking to Twitter, Singh posted his resignation letter addressed to Sonia Gandhi, “Today, at a time, we are celebrating the formation of our great Republic, I begin a new chapter in my political journey. Jai Hind.”

Kunwar Ratanjit Pratap Narain Singh, popularly known as Raja Saheb of Padrauna was a former Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs.

1) RPN Singh was Born on April 25 in 1964.

2) He joined politics after the death of his father CPN Singh who was Defence Minister in Indira Gandhi’s government.

3)Raja Saheb won the UP Assembly election three times in 1996, 2002, and 2007 from Padrauna.

4)In 2002, Singh married a famous new anchor Sonia Singh.

5)In 2009, he won the Lok Sabha election from the Kushinagar constituency.

6)The Congress party made him Petroleum Minister in 2011, followed by the Union Road and Transport Minister in 2012 and Home Minister between 2013 to 2014.

7)He has lost two consecutive Lok Sabha elections since 2014 against the BJP.

8)In September 2020, he was made the party in charge of Jharkhand.

9)He has now joined BJP on January 25, 2022.
