New Delhi: Call it draconian law or govt’s sincere effort to fight Coronavirus, the Jharkhand government on Thursday announced Rs 1 lakh fine for not wearing mask and two-year jail term for violating lockdown guidelines.

Jharkhand Cabinet approved the Jharkhand Contagious Disease Ordinance under which penalty up to Rs 1 lakh and a jail term up to two years can be imposed against those not wearing masks and spitting in public places.

The announces comes in light of Coronavirus numbers, making a surge in the state.
