Rs 30,000 crore emergency credit support for farmers: Sitharaman
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday announced Rs 30,000 crore as emergency funds for farmers hit by the unprecedented coronavirus crisis. It will benefit around 3 crore farmers.
New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday announced Rs 30,000 crore as emergency funds for farmers hit by the unprecedented coronavirus crisis. The emergency fund will benefit around 3 crore farmers.
This will help small and marginal farmers in post-harvest Rabi crops, Nirmala Sitharaman said.
This is in addition to Rs 90,000 crore support provided by NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development), which gives credit for agricultural activities.

Rs 10,000-cr job work offered under MNREGA to migrants: FM
Finance Minister said Rs 10,000 crore has been spent in the last two months on creating 14.62 crore man-days of work under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS) to help migrant workers.
Announcing the second tranche of economic stimulus package, she said the work has been offered to 2.33 crore wage seekers till May 13.
