In many hill stations like Shimla and Manali, people gathered in large numbers to beat the heat but the images which went viral show the gravity of situation.

New Delhi: As the nation witnesses daily dip in fresh Coronavirus cases, markets, malls and public places have been opened though with certain restrictions and guidelines to adhere to Covid-19 norms.

However, at many places, there has been very little regard for Covid protocol. People could be seen with carefree attitude and not following the Covid-19 appropriate behaviour.

Looking at the gravity of situation in many metropolis like Delhi & Mumbai and hill stations in Himachal like Shimla & Manali, the government also reached out to citizens to inform and update people about the grievous repercussions, such mindless gathering could have in near future.

Many travellers were seen roaming in market places without masks in Manali and also rubbing shoulders with fellow tourists. Such scary pictures are grim reminder of how frightening the situation could become in near future and how it is preparing ground for the 3rd wave of Covid-19.

Chaos in Delhi markets forces closure

Several markets in Delhi, which opened recently for trade and retail businesses were shut down as penalty measure, as people didn’t pay heed to Covid-19 protocols.

Markets like Lajpat Nagar’s Central Market, Sadar Bazar’s Rui Mandi have been closed till further orders.

Gathering at Covid centres & fishing festival

There were also some instances when people gathered at Covid care centres for vaccination in hordes in Delhi-NCR. All this resulted in chaotic situation as people haggled to get their vaccine jab while throwing social distancing norms to the wind.

Hundreds of people flocked a village in Tamil Nadu’s Sivaganga district to celebrate the annual fishing festival. Every year, villagers celebrate by catching a fresh water fish in a water body. In 2020, this was banned but this year, it went on with all aplomb, openly violating Covid-19 guidelines.
