New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Benerjee on Monday tweeted that she is shocked to hear that Union Ministry froze all bank accounts of Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity in India on the occasion of Christmas.
Taking to Twitter CM Mamata Banerjee raised the issue.
However, the officials of Missionaries of Charity have not yet said anything on this.
Also, there is no official confirmation has been made by the centre or the Home Ministry.
Shocked to hear that on Christmas, Union Ministry FROZE ALL BANK ACCOUNTS of Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity in India!
Their 22,000 patients & employees have been left without food & medicines.
While the law is paramount, humanitarian efforts must not be compromised.

Earlier, the Missionaries of Charity was accused of being involved in conversion of people to Christianity.
According to reports, there are over 5,000 nuns in the Missionaries of Charity who manages over 750 care homes, of which 243 are in India.
She lived most of her life in Kolkata.
