In latest cabinet decision, the UP cabinet has approved gamechanger move to transform Gorakhpur into modern city.
The proposal to designate Gorakhpur as Metropolitan City and Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Light Rail Transit Project was approved by the Yogi cabinet on Saturday. These proposals will soon be sent to Centre and once approved by Central govt, work will begin on mutli-faceted projects that will change the look and lifestyle of mega town.
The construction of the proposed ₹4,100 crore metro project will have 2 corridors and 27 stations on the metro route.
As per the proposal, the metro will run in the city on pillars with 2 metres width and the proposed distance between the pillars will be 27 metres. Constructing pillars on a four-lane road would be difficult, still Metro engineers are trying to find out the alternative.
