#SpeakUpForStudents: Rahul launches campaign, seeks cancellation of university exams

“While the IITs and colleges have cancelled exams and have promoted students, the UGC is creating confusion. UGC should also cancel the exams and promote students on the basis of past performance,” Rahul said in a video message.

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday asked the University Grants Commission (UGC) to cancel varsity examinations and rather promote the students on basis of their past performance, due to Coronavirus pandemic.

Rahul also launched a campaign on Twitter, demanding cancellation of final year exams. #SpeakUpForStudents – is the campaign with 53-second video on his official Twitter handle.

Gandhi participated in the ‘SpeakUpforStudents’ campaign by the Congress party and posted a short video message on Twitter.

‘Cancel exams, promote students on previous record’

“It is extremely unfair to conduct exams during the COVID-19 pandemic. The UGC must hear the voice of students and academics. Exams should be cancelled and students promoted on the basis of past performance,” he also tweeted.

In an order on July 6, the HRD Ministry had said that the exams will have to be conducted by September end.
Accusing the UGC of creating confusion, Gandhi said it is unfair to conduct examinations during the COVID-19 pandemic and the UGC should listen to the voice of students.

Rahul accuses UGC of creating confusion
