This Diwali, gift your friends & relatives an ODOP product: CM Yogi urges UP residents

In a bid to turn this crisis into opportunity, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister has urged the residents of state to go ‘Vocal for Local’ and help augment the skills of state’s artisans and handicraftsmen and several other craftsmen in produce of small goods.

New Delhi: Diwali festive mood has set in, although the celebrations will remain muted this year due to Covid-19 outbreak.

In a bid to turn this crisis into opportunity, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister has urged the residents of state to go ‘Vocal for Local’ and help augment the skills of state’s artisans and handicraftsmen and several other craftsmen in produce of small goods.

In a video appeal, CM Yogi Adityanath today urged the state residents to promote One District, One Product programme this Diwali.

“Gift your friends relatives, ODOP products this year which they relish for years to come. Let’s join PM Modi’s Vocal4Local campaign and harness
UP’s inherent and unexplored potential” CM Yogi said.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath recently launched One District, One Product (ODOP) virtual fair which earned wide admiration from the masses.

“This program is being recognised on national and international level. The Government of India has also asked to implement ODOP in other states of the country as well. Together with FICCI, we organised UP’s first Investors Summit in 2018 which further broadened the possibilities of the state,” said CM Yogi at the launch.

ODOP virtual fair, a grand success

The ‘One District One Product’ (ODOP) virtual fair, organised last month as an experiment amid the COVID-19 pandemic, has been a grand success.

The fair, organised by FICCI, the ODOP cell and UP govt’s MSME department, is aimed at giving a platform to traditional products at the national and international level and to assist craftsmen and artisans get recognition in newer markets.

More than 1,000 buyers from 35 countries took part in it. Over 700 craftsmen and sellers put up their stalls in the fair. Widely publicised on online platforms, including Facebook and Google, the fair attracted a huge response.
