New Delhi: Amid the mass outrage over the brutal gangrape and murder of Hathras victim and a day later in Balrampur, the Uttar Pradesh chief minister has said that strictest action will be taken against the perpetrators of such crimes and also against those who try to demean the dignity of women in any way.

Yogi Adityanath said that his government is committed to safety of every woman, adding that those who harm the dignity of ‘mothers and sisters’ in the state will be ‘destroyed’ and given exemplary punishment.

“Those who even think of damaging the honour of our mothers and sisters will be destroyed completely. They will be given such punishment that it will serve as an example in future. UP government is committed to the safety and security of every mother and sister. This is our promise, our determination,” Adityanath tweeted in Hindi.

The Chief Minister’s assurance comes amid massive political uproar by Opposition parties including Congress, SP, Bhim Army and others. Congress leaders Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi tried to visit Hathras yesterday but they were detained and sent back to Delhi from UP border.
