New Delhi: Three Hindu Mahasabha activists, were arrested for doing puja on Taj Mahal premises, in which one was a woman.

The activists were caught by CISF personnel and further delivered to the local police. They were booked under IPC section 153-A, i.e. promoting hostility between different groups on the basis of religion, etc, at Tajganj police station.

On the occasion of Maha Shivratri on Thursday, The three activists, Meena Diwakar, provincial chief of the organization, Vishal Singh and district in-charge Jitendra Kushwaha entered Taj Mahal’s premises and offered water to Lord Sun near the central tank, which they carried in the bottle.

They were confined by CISF personnel when they were about to offer prayers before the main mausoleum.

Afterward, the activists staged a protest outside the Tajganj police station and demanded their discharge.

Police station in-charge Umesh Tripathi stated that Vishal and Kushwaha have been remanded to judicial custody for fourteen days. A notice was issued for Diwakar as she fell ill and was taken for treatment in S.N. Medical College.

In the last three years, this was the second such incident that took place on the premises.

Devotees offers prayers on the occasion of Maha Shivratri

In November 2018, a group of women activists also offered prayers in the mosque on Taj Mahal premises.

The organization claimed that the Taj Mahal was initially a Shiva Temple, known as Tejo Mahalaya.
