Tragedy in Madhya Pradesh: Bus falls into canal in Sidhi district, 30 bodies recovered; rescue work on

New Delhi: A major tragedy struck Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh as a bus filled with passengers fell into a canal on Tuesday.

According to PTI report, about 30 dead bodies have been lifted out of the canal till last reports came in. The accident happened today morning at around 8 AM, when the bus was carrying about 54 passengers from Sidhi to Satna.

The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, following which the bus fell down straight into the deep canal.

According to Times Now report, 2 senior ministers of Madhya Pradesh government have rushed to the spot to take stock of the disastrous mishap and also to ensure that relief and rescue operation are carried out in full force.

MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has also directed the Sidhi District Magistrate (DM) to intensify the rescue operation.

Briefing the press about tragic mishap, MP minister Tulsi Silawat said, “CM has been taking a minute to minute detail of the accident since morning. As per officers on ground, around 30 bodies have been recovered.”

CM Shivraj announces compensation

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced Rs 5 lakh financial assistance to the kin of those killed in the bus mishap. He also assured all possible help to the grieving families in such times of hardship.
