New Delhi: Launching a major crackdown on those accused of killing Umesh Pal in Prayagraj, the Uttar Pradesh authorities on Wednesday bulldozed the residence of an associate of jailed MP & gangster Atiq Ahmed.
The Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) on Wednesday began the demolition of house of aide of gangster Atiq Ahmed, booked as an accused in the Umesh Pal murder case.
According to PDA secretary Ajit Singh, the house belonging to person named Zafar Ahmed was bulldozed in crackdown on mafia. A sword & 2 firearms were also recovered from the demolished house & handed over to police.
The action against property followed illegal construction in the premises. The property is said to be priced at Rs 2.5 crore.
The action by PDA comes days after Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, in the Assembly, accused the rival Samajwadi Party of patronizing mafia & then raising hue & cry over action on them.

Chief Minister, on the floor of House, also sounded a death knell for the criminals & mafias in the state.
“Mafia ko mitti mein mila denge”, UP CM had thundered while lashing out at Opposition.
Umesh Pal, a key witness in 2005 murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal, was shot dead in full daylight, near his residence in Prayagraj on February 24.
Former SP MP Atiq Ahmed is the prime accused in 2005 killing of BSP MLA Raju Pal. He has also been accused of hatching Umesh Pal’s murder.
UP police says that as the case was moving at fast pace and noose was tightening on the gangster, he mobilized his henchmen to kill the prime witness in the case.
On February 24, armed men opened fire on Umesh Pal and two policemen outside his residence in the Sulem Sarai area of Prayagraj. Umesh Pal and one of the policemen, Sandeep Nishad died in several rounds of firing.
Later, the UP police eliminated Arbaaz in an encounter over his involvement in Umesh Pal murder case.
