Union Minister Giriraj Singh takes jibe at Rahul Gandhi’s fisheries ministry comment

I’m hurt. Rahul Gandhi had asked a question on 2nd Feb. But in Puducherry & Kochi, he said that there’s no Fisheries Dept, I don’t know if his memory failed him.

New Delhi: Union Minister Giriraj Singh talked about Rahul Gandhi’s comment on a separate ministry for fishermen. Rahul Gandhi last month promised to make a separate ministry of fishermen. Giriraj Singh at that time responded to Rahul by tweeting in Italian.

He said, “I’m hurt. Rahul Gandhi had asked a question on 2nd Feb. But in Puducherry & Kochi, he said that there’s no Fisheries Dept, I don’t know if his memory failed him. I’ll form a separate ministry when we come to power, he said. Whose question was this?”

Rahul Gandhi at a public meeting in Puducherry said, “I think to myself, if farmers of the land have a ministry in Delhi then why can’t farmers of the sea have a ministry in Delhi? When we have an issue of farmers we go to the ministry that belongs to the farmers. We go to the Agricultural Minister, but when fishermen have an issue, they do not have a minister to go to. And so I think an important thing we have to do for fishermen is we have to give them a ministry in the central government, so their issues can be raised and their pain can be taken care of.”

PM Modi had setup a new department of fisheries in 2019 under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying.

To this BJP leaders responded:

Translation: Dear Rahul, There is no separate Ministry of Fisheries in Italy. It comes under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

Translation: They only know one thing. Spreading lies, fear and misinformation.
