Union Minister in Modi govt demands to observe Wife’s Day, on lines of Mother’s Day

Hailing from Maharashtra, this Dalit leader often makes headlines for his interesting statements and remarks

New Delhi: In an interesting demand, the Union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale called people to observe ‘Wife’s Day’ on the lines of Mother’s Day on Sunday.

While addressing an event in Maharashtra’s Sangli, Athawale said that a mother gives birth to a child while the wife stands by her husband in both good and bad times.

“Behind every successful man, there is a woman. So, we must celebrate Wife’s day”, he added.

For the unknown, Mother’s Day is celebrated every second Sunday of May each year across the world.

Hailing from Maharashtra, this Dalit leader often makes headlines for his interesting statements and remarks. Athawale has attracted the attention of big leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi with his hilarious poems in various sessions of the Parliament. In the past, the Union Minister was in the news for criticizing senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor.

When given a chance, Athawale does not miss an opportunity to taunt the opposition. Participating in a discussion on the motion of thanks to the President’s address in February last, Athawale had said that Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Anand Sharma should switch sides and join the NDA. There was an outcry in the house over his statement.

Recently asked Raj Thackeray to apologize 

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) supremo Raj Thackeray is scheduled to visit Ayodhya on June 5, though many including BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh are opposing thisvisit. Singh said that till Raj Thackeray do not apologize to the North Indians for his statements against them, he will not be allowed to enter Ayodhya.

Taking notice of the row, Union Minister Athawale has asked Thackeray to apologize to the North Indians for hurting their dignity and sentiments.
