UP: Food joint owner shot dead for refusing to serve parathas during night curfew

The two accused have been arrested by the police and an FIR has been lodged against them.

Uttar Pradesh has been experiencing a night curfew from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM. People residing in the state are restricted to move between these hours except when on emergency purposes. However, a shocking incident took place as the owner of a food delivery service in Greater Noida was shot dead by two people on January 1. The incident followed after the owner denied serving food to the men during the night curfew hours. The incident took place at Pari Chowk’s Omaxe Arcade.

The victim has been identified as Kapil who was a resident of Hapur. The police informed that the two men got angry at the 27-year-old as he denied serving parathas to them after midnight. Reportedly, the two accused visited the respective shop for three years.

Night Curfew in UP

Being the restaurant closed, Kapil told the accused that he would not be able to serve them food as per the guidelines by the police. Following this, the trio got into a heated argument with the two men leaving.

The two accused again returned to the food joint at 3:30 PM carrying a gun after which they shot Kapil dead and fled from the spot, informed police.

After receiving information that a man was shot near Pari Chowk, the police rushed to the spot immediately. Kapil suffered bullet injuries and he was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to death.

Arrest

The police arrested the two accused namely Aakash and Yogendra. Besides, an FIR has been lodged against them under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) – sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention). The two accused will be sent to judicial custody.
