UP Govt announces Rs 5 lakh insurance cover for journalists, Rs 10 lakh for Covid-19 death

“The state government will provide a health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh to all accredited journalists in the state every year. A sum of Rs 10 lakh will be provided to the family in case of untimely death of a journalist due to coronavirus infection,” CM Yogi said.

New Delhi: Extending a helping hand to journalists during Covid-19 pandemic, the Uttar Pradesh has announced a health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh for accredited journalists in the state every year. It also announced that if any journalist contracts Coronavirus and succumbs to it, the state government will provide a grant of Rs 10 lakh.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said journalists were working hard during these challenging times and asked them to take all precautionary measures to guard themselves against Covid-19 infection.

Yogi Adityanath said this while speaking at the inauguration of an information complex in Lucknow named after RSS ideologue Deendayal Upadhyaya.
