UP govt conducts Covid tests in villages on war footing, teams visit 3.2 crore houses in a week

According to the weekly report on the campaign, the Covid test teams have visited around 32 million (3,19,37,797) houses in different blocks of districts within a week, between May 5 and 12, against the targeted 3,30,69,010 houses for the period.

New Delhi: The UP Government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has accelerated recently its relentless and aggressive campaign to trace, test and treat Covid patients in order to maintain the declining trend of positive cases in the state. UP is one of the few states in the country that is conducting tests on war- footing even in the remotest rural areas of the state.

Energised by the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) endorsement of the Yogi Government’s efforts to ensure tracing and testing of suspected Covid cases by conducting door to door campaigns across the state, the health teams engaged in carrying out the Covid-19 Sensitistion Campaign are working ceaselessly to keep flow of Covid cases at its lowest ebb through prompt intervention.

According to the weekly report on the campaign, the Covid test teams have visited around 32 million (3,19,37,797) houses in different blocks of districts within a week, between May 5 and 12, against the targeted 3,30,69,010 houses for the period.

Similarly, the teams conducted a total of 2,57,845 tests in remote blocks of the districts.

The Yogi Government has also distributed medicine kits to 3,74,685 Covid patients so far. The Yogi Government firmly believes that tracing, testing and treating are the only effective ways to contain and fight coroinavirus in and leaving no stone unturned to achieve this end.

Meanwhile, the total number of active Covid test team days in blocks and districts is 12976 and 881027 respectively.
It is worth mentioning that Uttar Pradesh recently set a new record by conducting 2.96 lakh Covid tests in a single day.

Earlier, CM Yogi had directed the surveillance team to undertake door-to-door survey, increase pace of vaccination and double the capacity in order to contain the spread of the virus and ensure prompt treatment of positive cases.
