New Delhi: Senior journalist Upendra Rai today stepped down as the CEO and Editor-in-Chief of the Sahara News Network.
Announcing his resignation on Twitter, Rai said that he is resigning from the all the responsibilities and leaving the Network after a long association.
After a long association with Sahara News Network today I resigned from all the responsibilities of my position as CEO and Editor-in-Chief.

Months ago, Upendra Rai brought laurels to the profession by getting acknowledged & applauded in the British House of Lords.
In June this year, he was felicitated for his courageous journalism by the British House of Lords member Lord John Beckett Taylor (Lord Taylor of Warwick) in the Cholmondeley Room of the Upper House of the British Parliament. Rai was applauded for stellar work in the field of journalism and his fearless work was also recognized by the World Book of Records.
Upendra Rai is a seasoned journalist & writer, with over 2 decades of experience. His association with the Sahara network goes long back as in his previous stint with the group, he served as Group CEO & Editor-in-Chief and also looked after functioning of the Sahara Samay’s national & regional channels.
Apart from Sahara Network, he served as CEO & Editor-in-Chief of Tehelka. His unearthing of dmat account scandal in 2005 grabbed national headlines and reporting on stud farm owner Hasan Ali prompted government to act against him.
