UP’s ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ program: Municipal commissioners and Executive Officers to be nodal officers

Under this initiative, soil from different cities and villages across the country will be brought to Delhi in Amrit Kalash and preserved in the garden adjacent to the War Memorial.

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government, as per the directions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is enthusiastically engaged in making the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ program successful in Uttar Pradesh.

Under this campaign, the Chief Minister has provided clear directives to officers for the arrangement and supervision of various programs scheduled from August 9 to August 25. Following the same approach, the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies, Uttar Pradesh has appointed nodal officers for the organization and monitoring of programs in all Municipal Corporations, Municipalities, and Nagar Panchayats.

Furthermore, all Municipal Commissioners in Municipal Corporations and Executive Officers in Municipalities and Nagar Panchayats have been entrusted with this responsibility. These nodal officers can appoint nodal officers for each civic body and block level, and the complete responsibility for organizing programs will be under their purview.

Additionally, they will need to upload relevant data to the website of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

It is worth mentioning that Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated this campaign in the year of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to express gratitude towards the nation’s soil. Under this initiative, soil from different cities and villages across the country will be brought to Delhi in Amrit Kalash and preserved in the garden adjacent to the War Memorial. Additionally, plans are underway to preserve soil from Uttar Pradesh in Lucknow as well, in addition to Delhi.

Data will be uploaded on the web portal by the Nodal officers

Dr. Nitin Bansal, the Director of the Directorate of Urban Bodies, has assigned the responsibility of the nodal officer of the campaign to all Municipal Commissioners of Municipal Corporations, and Executive Officers of Municipalities and Nagar Panchayats.

In an order issued by the Directorate, it has been stated that the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, has been expected to nominate nodal officers at the urban body level for this program. Designated nodal officers will be provided with login IDs and passwords by the Department of Youth Affairs for uploading data on the web portal. The order further emphasizes that the nominated nodal officers are expected to diligently fulfill their responsibilities.

Nodal officers will also be appointed in each municipality and block

A detailed mention of the responsibilities of nodal officers is outlined in the letter sent by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. It states that in urban local bodies, each designated nodal officer will appoint a nodal officer for each municipality. Additionally, a suggestion has been made to appoint nodal officers at the block level for gram panchayats.

Nodal officers of municipal bodies will not only have access to the portal of the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports using their ID and password, but they will also be able to upload data related to the program. Nodal officers can either function as the chief organizers of the program or appoint someone separately at the local body level. Similar tasks have been assigned to nodal officers for gram panchayats as well.
