New Delhi: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday announced the list of TMC candidates for the Assembly elections in the state. TMC chief announced 291 candidates and left 3 seats for coalition partner. The 294-member Bengal Assembly is slated to go to eight-phase polls from March 27 to April 29.
“We are releasing a list of 291 candidates which includes 50 women, 42 Muslim candidates. On 3 seats of north Bengal, we not putting up our candidates,”said Mamata Banerjee.
I will contest from Nandigram, says CM Mamata Banerjee
In a major announcement, Mamata said that she will contest from Nandigram, a constituency which became the epicentre of political battle 10 years ago. Suvendu Adhikari, a former TMC heavyweight is contesting from the same seat. Mamata’s annoucement to contest from same seat is a strong message to the BJP that TMC is ready for the hotly contest Assembly elections.
Earlier, party sources claimed that Mamata will contest from 2 seats – Nandigram and Bhawanipur.
